- Students may feel invisible and it is important the teacher mention LGBTQIAA individuals in the classroom, so that the students do not feel alone. - Do not ask the student to be a "spokesperson" for their orientation in class. - Students should be provided with a caring and loving environment in the classroom. - Teacher should develop the concept of acceptance and safety in the classroom. - Including mention of famous LGBTQIAA individuals in the class is helpful to provide students will role models. - Creating a "safe zone" classroom where students who identify at LGBTQIAA can come and sit in the classroom when they are feeling bullied or threatened in other areas of the school. |
